Welcome to Faculty of Pharmacy

School of Pharmacy, OPJS University was established in the year 2013, with an objective to prepare professionally competent manpower in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The School has the mandatory infrastructure and approvals from Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). OPJS University has introduced pharmacy programs through its four School/colleges of Pharmacy Viz. School of Pharmacy, Ok College of Pharmacy, Global Pharmacy College and Ganpati Pharmacy College

The School/colleges has highly qualified faculty members having expertise in their respective areas. Interaction & collaboration with other institutions further makes students and faculty members update their knowledge.

The School/colleges offers the various courses like D. Pharm., B. Pharm., M. Pharm. and Ph.D. Programme The courses offer exhaustive exposure to various practical aspects of the research methodologies, instrumental techniques, emerging areas in regulatory affairs and industrial operations.

About Pharmacy

Pharmaceutical Science has been in practice since thousands of years and it is derived from greek word ‘Pharmacon’ which means poison or medicine. The Pharmaceutical sciences are a group of interdisciplinary areas of study concerned with the design, action, delivery and disposition of drugs.

Pharmacy is one of the unique profession and also very vital for the substance of human lives as it involves the combination of chemical science with health sciences. It helps to determine the effective and safe use of drugs used for the treatment of illness. There are broad scopes in pharmacy for the professionals who carry out the compounding as well as the dispensing of various drugs, professional practices in pharmaceuticals which are related to the patient care in hospitals, the evaluation of the efficiency of the usage of the drugs and the study related to the provision of drugs information. The study of pharmacy has been divided into various disciplines like Pharmaceutics, Pharmachemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharma Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacy Practice.

Pharmacy is the science and art concerned with the preparation and standardization of drugs. Its scope includes the cultivation of plants that are used as drugs, the synthesis of chemical compounds of medicinal value, and the analysis of medicinal agents. Pharmacists are responsible for the preparation of the dosage forms of drugs, such as tablets, capsules and sterile solutions for injection. Pharmacists are medication experts and play a critical role in helping people get best results from their medications. They ensure medicines and doses are correct, prevent harmful drug interactions, and counsel patients on the safe and appropriate use of their medications.
